We are back from our long journey in Ontario. What a ride. We flew overnight to Toronto on Tuesday, August 29 and with the time difference, arrived at 7:15 am on Wednesday morning. I did not sleep on the plane, no one did, but it was important that I slept which I did not. I tried to nap on my mommy's lap but would awaken with every movement and sound. Wednesday morning in Toronto turned out to be a trying experience for me and my parents because we couldn't check in to our hotel until 1 pm and had 5+ hours to kill, PLUS, I was miserable, on no sleep, and wouldn't sleep in the car or stroller. Tough, very tough. We picked up our rental car which turned out to be way too small for all of our baggage (a lot) but we crammed it all in anyway because we were too cheap to rent a minivan which would have cost over $1000. We killed a few hours at the fantastic Eaton Centre mall in downtown TO and my mommy did some powershopping while I screamed and my daddy tried to calm me down. We finally were able to check in to our hotel and we all took a nap, and then, ate McDonalds and drove around downtown. It was nice, especially for mommy to see all the wonderful city and stores. I discovered the week before in Penticton that I am in love with McDonalds french fries, no salt, so when my parents are desperate for me to eat dinner on the road, they now have an option. Not a healthy one, mind you. The next day we crammed ourselves in the car again and headed down for Niagara Falls. My parents have been there before but my Nonna hadn't. It was beautiful and fun and I had gotten some sleep so I was in a bit of a better mood. I got to see a baby tiger in the hotel lobby (did I mention that downtown Niagara Falls is like a mini Las Vegas?) and I threw up on one of the dining room chairs. oops. That evening we hit the outlet mall, its the best mall of outlets in Canada and once again, my mommy did some damage. Daddy bought me a cute Nike outfit and a Roots jean jacket! The next day we headed up to Cottage Country to visit with my Nana and Poppa, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. We stopped in St Jacobs, a Mennonite village, on the way but I was miserable so we could only breeze through. We had dinner with everyone the first night at the cottage and I was still trying to catch up on sleep. I no longer nap in the car, which sucks for my parents. The next day was the big 50th anniversary party and I had a nap in the afternoon so we barely made it to the park ontime to get our pictures taken. It was a beautiful dinner and dance except that my daddy let me fall on the wooden stairs at the old church and land on my head. I screamed and ruined my cousin Hayley's singing debut performance. I also clung to mommy for dear life the entire night (actually, the entire vacation as a matter of fact) so she didn't get too much of a chance to visit with all the Tuck families and friends, but it was nice to see everyone anyway. For the rest of the week we visited with family, drove around showing Nonna the area in which my daddy was raised, and ate and slept well. It was great. The weather was ok, not great. We had some rain and it was never warm enough for me to swim in the lake, not until the day we left. The day we left for Toronto ended up being another shopping excursion for my mommy as we went to a new, very large shopping mall in Vaughn called Vaughn Mills. It was nice and mommy and daddy both found a few things but the weather was very stormy and the power went out just as we were in Holt Renfrew! We had a few more hours to kill before signing in at the airport so we ate on the go at Tim Hortons and Harveys (gross) and then ended up being perfectly on time at the airport only to have our flight delayed by two + hours which sounded, at the time, like my parent's worse nightmare. Instead of leaving at 11 pm we left at 1:30 am and everyone was tired, including me. They had extra room on this flight so I got my own seat which was awesome because I ended up getting about 3 hours of sleep! My parents didn't get any but that's ok. My dvd player in which my parents usually amuse me with when they are desperate didn't work because the power had been left on and the battery was dead! Thank God they didn't really end up needing it because I settled down ok. Anyway, we are home now and back to Vancouver time, sunshine, and all caught up on sleep. Mommy returns to work tonight and daddy still has the week off. I am still being clingy to mommy and Grady is back today. Mommy finally cut off my hair. It looks ok, rather cute, but she may have to go even shorter as there is still enough for me to grab at. Pictures to come.
